### Day-of preparation

Demi is shown preparing emotionally for the session, talking to friends/family, arranging childcare and transport.

**Clinically accurate:** yes. Set and setting are part of ketamine treatment outcome. Most clinics ask patients to arrive with a calm headspace, no morning food, hydrated, and a sober driver lined up.

### In-session

The dosing scene shows Demi reclined, eye mask on, headphones playing music, clinician monitoring nearby. The scene is held briefly - reality TV does not linger on dissociation - and the visual matches what an in-clinic IM or IV ketamine session looks like.

**Clinically accurate:** yes. Eye masks, curated music, supervising clinician, monitored vitals. The dissociative experience is intentionally edited around because it is hard to film.

### Recovery + integration

Demi is shown after the session with a slightly altered affect, then later discussing what came up during the dissociative phase with cast members and at one point a clinician.

**Clinically accurate:** partly. Real integration usually involves a licensed therapist or coach trained in psychedelic-assisted therapy, not just supportive friends. The show portrays the social-support side authentically; the formal clinical side is edited down.

What is left out

Things that real ketamine treatment includes but reality TV did not show:

- Pre-session vital sign measurement.

- Post-session vital recheck before discharge.

- Insurance pre-authorization paperwork (if Spravato).

- The fact that a single session is rarely enough - a typical induction is 6 sessions over 2-3 weeks.

- Clinician follow-ups in the days after dosing.

Why this matters for patients researching the show

Reality TV creates the impression that one decision ("I'm going to try ketamine") leads quickly to one transformation. Real clinical ketamine treatment is a series of sessions over weeks, with monitored response, dose adjustment and follow-up.
